THINGS TO DO THIS SUMMER:
Read: Do you have a good book going? Do the kids? One of the best things you can do for kids and grandkids in the summer is to make sure they are reading. We have a book club going at the church. Check out last week’s announcements at http://www.stlukehas.com.
Think: This is a great time of year to put your feet up somewhere and think. I mentioned in last week’s message (you can find a podcast at our web site) some things to think about:
What does it mean that you are an instrument of righteousness? Or a tool or an implement?
What does it mean that you are a slave of God? Is that good? Is that bad?
What does it mean that you are the precious protected?
Reconnect with Family: Do you have a reunion planned? Are you going to visit a family member out of town or out of state? Spend some time with the kids or the grandkids not doing much of anything!
Exercise: Remember those resolutions you made back in January? If you haven’t started, now is a good time. How about swimming or jogging or biking? And yes, golf counts… if you walk it!
Get Some Sun: The vitamin D will do you good.
Go to a Ball Game: Baseball operates at a completely different pace. It will help relax you. (Make sure you get a hotdog while you are there.)
Have Some Ice Cream: Not too much.
Take a Nap: How’s that for advice from your Pastor?
Garden: Some feel closest to God with their hands in the dirt. Once the flowers are up and weeded, take time to smell them!
Say No Some Things: Don’t let your summer get too crowded with things to do. Use the summer to help train you for a less hectic pace in the fall!
Say Yes to VBS: It’s the biggest thing we do all summer and can always use some help!
Stay Connected to Jesus: Make sure a week doesn’t go by this summer without worship. Services here are Sundays at 8:30 and 11:00 and Monday evening at 6:33. If you are away on vacation, find a church nearby through http://www.lcms.org.

Have a good rest of the week.
