Something to Think On

SOMETHING TO THINK ON

But our citizenship is in heaven ...

Think of the biggest, nicest home you ever saw.  Wow.  Now think about how through the blood of Christ God has provided you freely a home greater than that.

Think of a time that you visited another country or another part of this one.  You were a visitor.  You did not get too wrapped up in the affairs of that location.  You watched your p’s and q’s because you were a guest.  How does that connect with the idea that we are only visiting this planet?

Think about sticking out like a sore thumb.  Remember a time that you were Up North somewhere with goofy looking shorts and a hat that screamed, “I’m a fudgy!”  Everyone around you knew you belonged somewhere else.  How does that connect with the idea that we are only visiting this planet?  Remember, sticking out like a sore thumb is different from being a pain in the neck!

Think on making the most of the journey.  Our citizenship is in heaven, but we do live here, now, in this world.  And this world isn’t nothing.  Life in this world is a great gift from God:  life, family, friends, purposeful living.  How, in Christ are you making the most of the journey?  (Come Sunday for worship as we explore some dangers along the way.)

NOT ALONE

Not only has God given us brothers and sisters in faith for our earthly pilgrimage, but he has poured out his Holy Spirit upon us.

Think on this too:  God’s Holy Spirit dwells within to guide, strengthen, assist, defend and equip us.

TABLE TALKS

Make sure, especially as families, to spend time together with other believers at a dinner table talking about things both temporal and eternal.  God strengthens his people both at the Lord’s Supper and at our own!

The one is Sacramental; the other is sacramental.  Something to think on.

DON’T FORGET

Remember during the Lenten Season we have an opportunity to join together for worship on Wednesday evening at 7:00 p.m.  A light supper is served at 6:00.

AND ONE MORE THING

As you spend time reading the Bible on your own, if you have questions, and you will, feel free to pass them on to me.  I promise a response if not an answer.
