I GOT THIS FROM ONE OF YOU WHO GOT THIS FROM SOMEONE ELSE AND SO HERE IT IS
Ever wonder what would happen if we treated our Bible like we treat our cell phone?
What if we carried it around in our purses or pockets?
What if we flipped through it several time a day?
What if we turned back to go get it if we forgot it?
What if we used it to receive messages from the text?
What if we treated it like we couldn’t live without it?
What if we gave it to kids as gifts?
What if we used it when we traveled?
What if we used it in case of emergency?
This is something to make you go….hmm…where is my Bible? Oh, and one more thing. Unlike our cell phone, we don’t have to worry about our Bible being disconnected because Jesus already paid the bill. It’s odd what we treasure in life. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also (Matthew 6:21).
These kinds of things often produce as much guilt as they do motivation. Let the guilt go to the cross and receive the motivation.

I GOT THIS FROM SOMEONE WHO GOT IT FROM SOMEONE ELSE WHO GOT IT FROM GOD
In my readings today I came across Psalm 18:27-33.
You save the humble but bring low those whose eyes are haughty. You, O LORD, keep my lamp burning; my God turns my darkness into light. With your help I can advance against a troop; with my God I can scale a wall. As for God, his way is perfect; the word of the LORD is flawless. He is a shield for all who take refuge in him. For who is God besides the LORD? And who is the Rock except our God? It is God who arms me with strength and makes my way perfect. He makes my feet like the feet of a deer; he enables me to stand on the heights. Psalms 18:27-33 (NIV)
Made me stronger today. I hope the same for you.

I GOT THIS FROM SOME ELSE TO SEE IF IT IS SOMETHING YOU CAN GET
During the Epiphany Season we are going Treasure Hunting. We are going to examine what a treasure our God is. Here is a puzzle for you to discover one of the treasures of God’s word. Can you figure this out? (Go ahead. You can ask the kids. They tend to be better at these sorts of things.)
Find this Bible passage for next week: Clue 1.) John probably was the head honcho at a church here. Clue 2.) Take any number. Multiply by 4; subtract 6; add ten; divide by 2; subtract 16; add 14; divide by your original number. Clue 3.) What are two numbers that equal 17 when added and 72 when multiplied?
This was in the announcements last week. There will be a new one this week.

AND THESE THREE THINGS:
- See if you can memorize this Bible passage: I Peter 1:18-19. It goes with our treasure hunting theme.
- If you want to be in a home group but are not presently in one, please let me know.
- Deacon Bill Benson and Sheryl Barnhart will lead a service this Sunday afternoon at the new Okemos Rehabilitation Center at 1:30. If you are interested in going along with them, let them know.
