All Life Matters

ALL LIFE MATTERS I

It is still hard to believe that pilot safely landing his plane on the river in New York and everyone surviving.

Surely each of those passengers has a new appreciation for life.  Facing the moment of death… and then living.  Wow.  I wonder how that will change their lives henceforth.

A lesson for each of us?  Life is precious, fragile and fleeting.  It is a gift from God.  Are we making the most of the opportunities God has given us?  Are we doing all we can to be good stewards of the gift of life?  In what way are we prepared for it to end?

As Christians we have comfort that even though our days will end here, we will live on in eternity in the presence of God’s glory.  What difference does having eternal life with God make in our daily life?

The hallmark of the Civil Rights movement was that all human life is valuable, regardless of race, creed or color.

Amen to that!

This past Tuesday we saw a great step forward in our land through the inauguration of Barak Obama.  Look at what happens between various races in other countries and you will see that it is truly a remarkable thing that has happened in American.

Of all people we Christians should have the greatest victory over racist thinking.  We Christians know that there truly is only one race of people:  the human race.  And further, we know that the whole human race has been broken by sin and redeemed by Jesus.  We should extend love to all people even as God does in Christ.

God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in him will not perish, but will have eternal life.  John 3:16

God wants all people to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.  I Timothy 2:4

ALL LIFE MATTERS III

Our nation marked a sad anniversary Thursday.  It was too many years ago January 22 that abortion became legal in America.

As Christians we value all life, including the lives of the unborn, the infirm, the ill and others who cannot defend themselves.

Marking this sad anniversary should call us to:

Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves
Support those people and agencies that are helping to care for teen moms and their babies
Get better educated about the ethical problems of embryonic stem cell research and euthanasia
Bring the healing Gospel to lives that have already by impacted by abortion

Remember, bringing real change in this area has more to do with changing hearts than laws.  And changing hearts is what the Church is about!

UNCOMMONLY SMART

Our God knows all things!

He knows all that goes on in your life, heart and mind… and still loves you!

He knew exactly what it would cost to save you and me… and sent his Son to the cross.

He knows what you really need and the best way to provide it… and will.

Enjoy our little break from the bitter cold.  It will be back soon enough!
